This is a scene from the movie ‘A few good man’. To be honest, I just found it on the internet. But the main actor inside, jack Nicholson, was so brilliant at his part of the speech that I just have to show it to you all. I’m even been encouraged to watch this old movie itself after viewing this speech. To start off, this scene is about the Colonel and the Lieutenant arguing about whether   he issued the code red. To make his point, the colonel issued a speech insulting the Lieutenant. I find the way he issues the speech makes it seem authentic. His posture and his facial expression looks genuine, thus making him seen like the really cared about the men who died. Just by listening to his speech, I felt that the opposing end is the bad guy. It’s that convincing. His tone and style seems demanding but actually shows a deeper meaning. All in all, this speech is excellent and I would recommend it to people to watch the movie.

#5 A rare outing...

Today was an especially special day. The reason was because my family actually had one of those rare and special, ‘family outing’. Why do I classify it as rare? Well, it’s the fact that we haven’t had one for a tremendously long time. Anyways, onwards to the main course.
The story unfolds in the evening, when my father told us that since Chinese New Year was nearing, he had decided to bring us to our favorite restaurant, Fish and co., to enjoy the scrumptious seafood there, followed up by a trip to the cinema, Golden Village, to watch the newly released ‘Green Hornet’.

We reached the restaurant in little more than fifteen minutes at the Tampines mall. While waiting, there were the usual jokes and puns that my father dished out to both annoy and amuse us, and my sister would be smacking him playfully for making some random comment she didn’t like. My mother was tactfully ignoring them until my father poked fun at her, in which she responded with a ‘friendly’ pinch. Ahhhh, we hadn’t had a dinner, with all of us here and eating out at a restaurant we all enjoyed dining at, for such a very long time due to work causes for my parents and the metre high pile of school work for me and my sister. It was simply bliss to, just for a small moment, be able to smile and laugh with my family, to forget our troubles and worries and stress and have a happy moment with our loved ones.
Soon, the food came. Steam rose in spirals that trailed off then disappeared into the air off the mouth-watering fish and chips, which was the restaurant’s special. The tantalizing taste had our taste buds captivated and to top it off, tasty mussels steam-cooked in the restaurant’s specialty sauce, lemon, butter and garlic mixed with some special herbs, enchanted and tickled our tongues teasingly. “This is excellent food,” I said, with nods of agreement from the whole family. But… all good things must come to an end, and very soon we were on our way to catch a movie.
The movie passed by uneventfully, well I really hope to that I can have another occasion to be with my family doing something together again very soon.

#4 Injustice with a tip of fire...

Blog post four: Something unusual that happened that day.

Going to school for the day before was not as boring, well if only in English class. During this seemingly normal lesson, I had ‘witnessed’ an extremely unusual and strange event. Call it cruel and despicable if you want. Of course, we never had the chance to view this gruesome event in real life, but thanks to our awesome teacher, we got to witness it-on the computer.
Most people in the past view women as worthless beings that do not even deserve human rights, and some people are still doing it. In India, noticeable amounts of woman are being forced to practice ‘sati’ or bride-burning.  As we saw from the video, women are being forced to burn together just because they did not pay enough dowry? I for one find this extremely horrifying. In one case, a woman was burnt to death just because she did not clean her husband’s clothing enough. Why are women being committed to do these things? Why do people think they are useless, when they can be just or even more successful than man?  For another case, women are burnt to death with their husband. Please note that I respect their religion but I do not agree with the sexism against females. Oh wait, the extreme sexism against females, why must they die for this silly reasons?

The whole video was associated with the worksheet we are doing, which depicts of a story of a man saving a woman from being a sati. I find this story seemingly like the story in ‘Around the world in 80 days’ , though it was a bit more realistic.

All in all, I found today interesting. Who knew that a worksheet could land you in such unusual information?

#3 My Hobby...

Blog post three: something I did on my own and enjoyed.

Everyone has something they like to do or conduct, be it normal or seriously abnormal, or maybe just weird, it is part of our life to enjoy doing something and have a hobby. As for me, my hobby is cycling and it is just awesome. Most people dislike it; some even despise it, because they feel that their backside is sore and tender after cycling just a tiny bit. However, I will not be deterred from the finest sport ever by the opinions of others. These people should be more optimistic, because they themselves have accomplished something. They can cycle! They are, at least, more accomplished at this then those who cannot cycle. Instead of sulking and hating cycling, they should be glad that they can, at the very, very least, cycle!
This is about one of my most enjoyable experiences cycling. The destination was East Coast Beach. The journey makers were me and my trusty bike. Onward, adventurers! This was my first solo journey to a place further than the park and to Victoria school and I was pretty excited and eager to prove myself. The sun was setting by the time I was up and ready. Ahhh…not too cool and not too warm, perfect! I stared at my bike……the shiny yellow carbon frame bears no flaws of any kind. (It was a new bike that I just got).
I eagerly clambered onto my bike and blasted off from my home. On the way I eyed the startlingly beautiful sunset as I effortlessly cycled though the linear park. I had chosen the right time to cycle! The orange and pink tinted sky seemed the only thing immune to the blur that had overtaken the rest of the world, caused by my lightning speed. This bike feels so fast! That was no wonder as my bike was a racing bike, with extremely thin and sleek wheels that seemed capable of slicing through the air to accelerate to unbelievable speeds.
In the blink of the eye, I had reached East Coast Beach. The fresh sea air blasted my sensors, throwing them into overdrive. I zoomed past the stretch of road, narrowly missing collision with two cyclists. True, my way of cycling may be dangerous, but it is definitely fun. After breezing though the beach a couple more miles, I stopped and picked up a yummy Mcfluffy at McDonalds. The mission had been a success, and it was super fun and enjoyable too.

#2 Baking horror...

Blog post two: a problem I managed to voercome

The lesson just like any other school day except it was one of my most dreaded lessons in the school- Home economics …. I think it’s terrifying simply because I dislike and am not proficient at cooking. In fact, I’m terrible at it.
So, today we were baking Queen Cake or what I like to call mini muffins. It was mortifying as I had never even laid my eyes on kitchen equipment ever since after last year’s economics and I was in full panic mode. Can you imagine the sheer terror of not being able to do anything? Well, I can. Yes, you can say that I am a spoiled brat, not helping out at all in the kitchen…..At least I can make magi noodles though.  :D
And thus started the lesson, the teacher was droning on and on about adding this to that, blending this to that. I looked nervously at my partner. Soon we started on our baking. I assigned my partner the job of mixing the eggs as I was scared of breaking the egg shells into the mix. I looked mindlessly at the mixer and the scattered ingredients…How was I going to survive this? Hearing the teacher scold a guy for forgetting to bring his apron demoralized me even more, if that were possible. I cautiously placed the butter and sugar into the bowl and started mixing. It did not go well at first. I lifted up the bowl while it was mixing and some of it splattered near the table.
Thankfully, I had chanced upon a kind and helpful partner. He not only helped me with my part but also taught me some useful skills. With his kind advice and assistance, I was even able to mix the eggs without messing up and did my part smoothly afterwards. So, thank you my friend. And those muffins are so awesome!

#1 The year of scouting begins...

Blog entry one: something that took place at school.
Hello again guys and welcome to my blog!
Yesterday was an especially exhausting day (and I only had time to post today), as I had Scouts (my CCA) today. But it was well worth it. Our new match of secondary one students had came and boy was it fun! The secondary one students looked so tiny and cute too!  We had our usual PT: Running and stuff like that. But the problem is that I just had my 2.4 kilometres run yesterday for our Physical Education, and I was darn tired.
Looks like there’s people even more tired than me during our run: the secondary one students are lagging behind….That brings back old memories of my secondary One life. :D Anyways, they will get used to it soon. Or not.
We had icebreaker games that introduced the Secondary ones students to us…or us to them, whichever way you prefer to view it.  Looks like this year’s batch of newcomers are going to be worse off than us, I hope they prove me wrong on this.
Now, the main event on the itinerary- foot drill. :/  The horror of it. We finally had to start marching after so long, and to be honest, we weren’t good at it at all. So we practiced and practiced, and got better. :D
However, we were made to do it again, because it was not good enough.Staying back to finish our tests was, perhaps, a blessing in disguise. Although I never did do my test, I actually prepared for It. (Yeah, I love slacking)

So that’s all for today. I’m sure this will be a fun and exciting year ( I hope)!
