Blog post four: Something unusual that happened that day.
Going to school for the day before was not as boring, well if only in English class. During this seemingly normal lesson, I had ‘witnessed’ an extremely unusual and strange event. Call it cruel and despicable if you want. Of course, we never had the chance to view this gruesome event in real life, but thanks to our awesome teacher, we got to witness it-on the computer.
Most people in the past view women as worthless beings that do not even deserve human rights, and some people are still doing it. In India, noticeable amounts of woman are being forced to practice ‘sati’ or bride-burning. As we saw from the video, women are being forced to burn together just because they did not pay enough dowry? I for one find this extremely horrifying. In one case, a woman was burnt to death just because she did not clean her husband’s clothing enough. Why are women being committed to do these things? Why do people think they are useless, when they can be just or even more successful than man? For another case, women are burnt to death with their husband. Please note that I respect their religion but I do not agree with the sexism against females. Oh wait, the extreme sexism against females, why must they die for this silly reasons?

The whole video was associated with the worksheet we are doing, which depicts of a story of a man saving a woman from being a sati. I find this story seemingly like the story in ‘Around the world in 80 days’ , though it was a bit more realistic.

All in all, I found today interesting. Who knew that a worksheet could land you in such unusual information?
